Sevenoaks Scouts is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Group Lead Volunteer to lead Edenbridge Scout Group. As a Group Lead Volunteer, you’ll play a pivotal role in fostering a thriving Scout Group, inspiring both youth and adult volunteers alike.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead by Example: You’ll be the driving force behind your Scout Group, setting a positive example and creating a welcoming environment for everyone.
- Empower Young People: You’ll ensure that the voices and ideas of young people are heard and valued, shaping the direction of your group’s activities and programs.
- Build a Strong Team: You’ll recruit, train, and support a team of dedicated volunteers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere.
- Create Unforgettable Experiences: You’ll work with your team to plan and deliver exciting, challenging, and educational programs that help young people develop essential life skills.
- Connect with the Community: You’ll build relationships with local organisations and partners, ensuring that your Scout Group is a valued asset to the community.

Chair of the Trustee Board
Help Steer the Ship (No Knots or Camping Required!)
Behind every Edenbridge Beaver, Cub, and Scout building dens, roasting marshmallows, and learning life skills, there’s a secret engine room making it all possible: our Trustee Board.
We are looking for a friendly, organised Chair of the Trustee Board to keep our meetings running smoothly, our charity on track, and our volunteer leaders supported.
The best part? You don’t need to sleep in a tent, pitch a shelter in the rain, or know how to tie a bowline. If you can keep a meeting on schedule, offer sensible advice, and enjoy seeing young people thrive in our community, you’re our ideal candidate!
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
- Chairing meetings with a smile: Facilitating 4–6 relaxed, productive Trustee meetings a year, plus the AGM.
- Keeping us shipshape: Working with our Treasurer to keep finances sound and making sure our Scout hall stays warm, safe, and ready for action.
- Being a critical friend: Giving constructive support to our Group Lead Volunteer so they can focus on delivering great youth programmes.
- Common-sense governance: Ensuring we follow basic charity guidelines and safety policies (with full support from the Sevenoaks District team).
Who You Are
- Comfortable chairing discussions and hearing everyone out.
- Practical, level-headed, and good with everyday planning.
- Background in management, business, committees, finance, or just great at getting things organised (retirees, working professionals, and local parents all welcome!).

Time Commitment: ~1.5 to 2 hours a week (weekday evenings)

Experience Needed: None — enthusiasm is all that matters!
Whether you’ve just wrapped up your A-levels, decided to skip the lecture halls, started your first job, or are taking time out to figure out your next move, standing out in the job market can be tough.
Edenbridge Scout Group is looking for energetic 18–25 year olds to join our section volunteer teams. You’ll help run games, outdoor adventures, campfires, and hands-on activities for local young people—all while building real, tangible skills that employers and apprenticeship providers actively look for.

Find Your Fit: Which Section Suits You?
You can choose the age group you feel most comfortable working with:
- Beavers (Ages 6–8): High energy, fun crafts, simple team games, and big imaginations.
- Cubs (Ages 8–10½): Outdoor exploring, badgework, den building, and learning practical skills.
- Scouts (Ages 10½–14): Bushcraft, camping trips, navigation, and adventurous activities.
- Explorers (Ages 14–18): Mentoring older teens taking on expeditions and Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) awards.
- Comfortable chairing discussions and hearing everyone out.
- Practical, level-headed, and good with everyday planning.
- Background in management, business, committees, finance, or just great at getting things organised (retirees, working professionals, and local parents all welcome!).
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
As a Section Team Member, you help bring the weekly programme to life:
- Helping set up and run evening games and challenges.
- Assisting with outdoor activities, campfire cooking, and weekend camp trips.
- Acting as an approachable mentor and positive role model for local young people.
- Sharing your own hobbies or passions (whether that’s sports, tech, music, art, or the outdoors).
